In a migration process of different time dimension and space changes, the artist has felt herself growing into “a strange, and an inadequately cling object” given the foreign land she is standing on. Within the context, she later attempted to apply this concept into the main focus of her artistic approach, such as her fabric sculpting, film videos and installation works.
This film is about how from nature, the artist finds her own sense of belonging in the mosses and weeds. The bryophytes’ photoreceptor reflects on her inner “outsider-viewing-consciousness.” Whereas the mosses or wild grasses could continuously expand on a soil, once the main observant (the audience)’s point of view shifts- their role on the territory will then result as intruders immediately.
The artist believes that an action of human wearing a fabric object could be compared to the process of migration. The symbol of soil as human body, the land’s reception of foreign objects, and the second identity from fabric...etc, are the main metaphors that audiences can find from her video work - "somesthésie, mousse, et lumière I.”
This video work is currently the overture film of the series “somesthésie, mousse, et lumière.”
